We prefer waves over handshakes. And we’re finding other ways to keep visitors safe from COVID-19.
Just like you, we have been looking forward to opening the doors. Everyone at St. Louis Union Station is excited to share delicious meals, have incredible adventures and make new memories with you. But, as we prepare to welcome guests again, we’re also taking precautions to ensure that everyone can enjoy Union Station safely.
Before you join us, please be sure you’re in good health. Upon your arrival at Union Station, we’ll ask one member of your party to complete a health questionnaire for the group. Once you verify that everyone with you is well, you’ll be cleared to enter the property.
For added security, we’ve installed a thermal camera system to screen guests as they visit our indoor attractions, including the St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station. If you have a fever of 100° or higher, we’ll provide you with a full refund and ask that you return at a later date.
Everyone on site will also be asked to observe social distancing, and we’ve placed markers across our most popular attractions to help everyone stay safe – and at least six feet apart. Please be sure that you use these markers during your visit and avoid congregating in groups.
You’ll also notice that all Union Station employees are wearing face masks. At the direction of the Department of Health for the City of St. Louis, guests ages 9 and older are also required to wear masks. People with preexisting health conditions who are unable to wear a mask or face covering for medical records are exempt. Guests are allowed to remove or lower their masks when practicing good social distancing of six feet or more, or while eating or drinking.
With different concerns at each attraction and eatery, you may notice small changes to the way you experience our property. Make note of our updated practices and procedures to ensure your next visit is as amazing – and safe – as possible.
Guest Services & Ticketing
To limit interactions at the ticket booth, monitor attendance numbers and ensure social distancing, we’re asking all guests to purchase their attraction tickets in advance. St. Louis Aquarium and St. Louis Ropes Course tickets display a certain reservation time, which helps us keep lines – and wait times – short. Advance reservations for these two attractions are required.
Tickets to all attractions are available online, but if you decide to play a round at St. Louis Mini Golf, visit The Wheel, explore A-Maze-Ing Discoveries Mirror Maze or ride The Carousel once you’re here, please note that the number of POS ticketing stations and ticketing staff have been reduced. Please be patient and observe proper social distancing as you wait to make your purchase.
Due to concerns over maintaining sanitary conditions, we are temporarily unable to accept cash payments, and will only accept credit card transactions. We are also temporarily unable to offer discounted tickets.
Only valuable items such as personal IDs, wallets, credit cards or phones will be accepted and held in the lost and found area. All other items will be discarded to ensure staff and guest safety.
The St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station
As we welcome everyone back to the St. Louis Aquarium, we want to be sure our guests have the space they need to stay socially distant. That’s why we’re limiting the total number of guests admitted each day.
All visitors – including annual passholders – must visit the St. Louis Aquarium website to reserve a ticket and specific entry time in advance. Guests should arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to their assigned reservation time.
The virtual train ride that welcomed guests to the aquarium is temporarily out of service due to the inability to remain socially distanced within the space. Instead, guests enter the aquarium through a corridor next to the trains. To ensure proper social distancing, traffic within the aquarium will move through the facility in one direction.
Within the aquarium experience, you may also notice that some of the touch screen interactions are off limits. We’re doing this to limit contact between our guests and keep the spread of germs down. That’s why we’ve also added hand sanitizing stations in several areas around the aquarium.
Good news: our touch tanks are still open. However, we have a designated area where guests can wait for their turn to interact with rays, invertebrates, doctor fish and animal ambassadors. Thank you in advance for being patient with our staff and with other guests, as we allow everyone enough time to enjoy this popular aquarium feature.
Guests who require the use of a wheelchair may still secure one using their ID. All IDs will be collected in a Ziploc bag, and all chairs will be sanitized between users.
Guests may also still borrow sensory bags, but they will be offered in disposable bags rather than cloth bags. All bags are disinfected and stored for at least three days before they may be used again.
The St. Louis Wheel
If you know you want to ride before you visit St. Louis Union Station, please consider buying your tickets online. This will help us limit lines at the ticket booth onsite.
Between rides, our staff will take a moment to sanitize each gondola. Please expect minor delays before you’re able to step onto your gondola and as your ride is coming to an end.
St. Louis Union Station Soda Fountain
In order to control traffic, guests are asked to enter through the front door only, and exit through the north patio doors. The number of guests inside The Soda Fountain is limited so that everyone can observe social distancing. Please be prepared to wait outside and enjoy the Fire & Light Show before your party is seated.
St. Louis Ropes Course Union Station
Our team limits the number of guests allowed on the ropes course, so it’s easier to maintain social distance guidelines. Guests must purchase a time-specific ticket in advance to avoid crowding, and course staff is using a wristband system to minimize lines and track guests’ time on the course.
Team members on the course are responsible for sanitizing equipment throughout the day. Plus, we provide hand sanitizer stations at the ropes course entrance and exit for our guests to use at their discretion.
The Train Shed
The Train Shed is temporarily limiting the number of guests in the restaurant to make room for social distancing. Please check with the host or hostess to be sure accommodations are available for your group.
Restaurant staff sanitizes tables and seating areas regularly – especially as guests leave and before new guests arrive.
A-MAZE-ING Discoveries Mirror Maze
Because A-MAZE-ING Discoveries includes touch screen elements, we are providing all guests with disposable gloves. We ask that everyone wear the gloves throughout their mirror maze experience and dispose of them as they leave the attraction.
Team members sanitize the interactive elements often and have turned off the compression tunnel at the end of the maze to limit the number of surfaces guests come into contact with.
St. Louis Mini Golf Union Station
Our team regularly sanitizes all equipment after each use, and disposes all golf pencils after a single use. We are also limiting the number of total guests on the course and monitoring group size to ensure successful social distancing.
St. Louis Carousel Union Station
The number of riders is limited so guests can maintain a safe 6’ distance. After each ride, our team will take a moment to sanitize the carousel animals and poles. Please expect minor delays between rides to allow for cleaning time.
St. Louis Union Station is continuing to monitor updates from the CDC, guidance from federal, state and local officials, and medical news related to COVID-19 so we can update our policies as the situation evolves. We appreciate your continued patience and thank you for your trust in us. We look forward to seeing you at the station soon!
